Based on lessons learned from my previous attempts here:
https://wilson-chua.medium.com/the-french-elections-as-early-poc-49fecd62aeb7, I attempt to again predict the French election runoff election results using Google Trends.

This time we looked at The Economist’ prediction listed here: https://www.economist.com/interactive/france-2022/forecast

While pollsters say Macron has widened his lead, Google Trends show this:

April 21, 2022

It seems to be a close call. Macron with 10 and Le-Pen with 9.

April 22, 2022

As of April 22, 2022, Macon is 12, Le Pen is 11. The race is even tighter.

At the day of voting, April 24, 2022, this is the final 7 days of Google Trends:

April 24, 2022

Based on this, I would call the French runoff elections for Macron.
Update: The Google Trends successfully predicted the French runoff elections results.
