Tableau Time Zone Conversion
I had a task where the calls from our Philippine call center need to be analyzed for peak periods over days of the week and over the 24 hour period.
The Tableau Viz wouldn’t make sense:
In the above chart, the calls seems to come in the early morning hours. It turns out that the data we had was recorded using Eastern Time Zone, but the operations were in Singapore Time Zone.
A solution was googled and came upon this :
And so I patterned the solution after the article above: (instead of using Parameters, since we know that the time zone difference is +13, we just add this directly into the calculated field)
And using Highlighted Tables and color coding the high call number periods, we can then display the call table data using the Calculated Field (GMT8ConvertedDate) as:
